Bready, Set, Stack! FAQ

Answers to the questions that come up most often about Bready, Set, Stack!, the free bread stacking arcade game you play in your browser. If something is not covered here, the contact page reaches the person who makes the game.

Is Bready, Set, Stack! free to play?

Yes. The whole game is free and runs in the browser, with nothing to download and no adverts between your runs. Crumbs, the in-game currency, are earned by playing, so the shop items can be unlocked simply by getting good at the game.

Do I need an account to play?

No. You can play as a guest straight away and reach Rank 10 without signing up. An account is offered at that point so your rank, crumbs, best score and items stay with you between devices, rather than living in a single browser.

How is the score worked out?

Every slice you land pays XP towards your rank and crumbs into your wallet. A drop that lands dead centre on the slice below pays the most of both, and the payout falls away the further off centre it lands, because the knife has trimmed more of the slice away. Your best score is what appears on the leaderboard.

How do ranks work?

Ranks run from 1 to 50 and keep going after that. The first rank-up asks for 100 XP and each one after that asks a little more, up to Rank 50, where the amount settles and stays the same for good. Every rank has its own badge and your progress towards the next one is shown on the home screen.

What are crumbs and what can I spend them on?

Crumbs are the in-game currency. They are spent in the shop on power-ups such as Slow Motion, which eases the incoming slice down, Perfect Snap, which pulls your next drop dead centre, Extra Go, which gives you another attempt after the tower falls, and Second Helping, which serves your stack up again at double the height. The strongest items are limited to a few uses a day.

Can I play it on my phone?

Yes. Bready, Set, Stack! is designed to be played one-handed on a phone, and it works just as well with a mouse and keyboard on a desktop. Tap, click or press space to drop a slice.

Is there a soundtrack?

There is. The Bready, Set, Stack! soundtrack can be unlocked from the Music! tab on the home screen once you have saved up enough crumbs. Owning it adds a floating music player you can drag anywhere on the screen and keep playing while you stack.

What happens if I reset my progress?

Resetting clears your rank, best score, crumbs and every item you own, putting you back at Rank 1. Your account itself is left alone: the login, the name and the picture on it stay exactly as they are.
